Thank you to everyone who were such good sports about the article I posted yesterday. It would’ve been amazing to have made such a rare discovery, but it was indeed an April Fools joke. There were a few hints inside the article which some eagle-eyes may have spotted.
The article was written entirely by Chat GPT, an artificial-intelligence chatbot, by using a few keywords I provided. The words “Chat GPT” were worked into the name of the “article writer” which the chatbot chose itself. I also asked it to translate the article into Dutch which I posted on some other social media pages.
Other clues include the date at the top of the article and the National Diamond Vault, which does not exist in the Netherlands.
The stone was a piece of glass I found while renovating my garden. I have used it as a prop in my product photography for several years. And yes, I did actually test it to see if it was a real diamond!

Bedankt aan iedereen die een goed gevoel voor humor had over het artikel dat ik gisteren plaatste. Het zou geweldig zijn geweest om zo’n ontdekking te hebben gedaan, maar het was inderdaad een aprilgrap. Er waren een paar hints in het artikel die sommige scherpe lezers misschien hebben opgemerkt.
Het artikel is volledig geschreven door Chat GPT, een chatbot met kunstmatige intelligentie, met behulp van een paar zoekwoorden die ik heb opgegeven. De woorden “Chat GPT” werden verwerkt in de naam van de “artikelschrijver” die de chatbot zelf koos. Ik heb het ook gevraagd om het artikel van het Engels naar het Nederlands te vertalen dat ik op een aantal andere sociale media-pagina’s heb geplaatst.
Andere aanwijzingen zijn de datum bovenaan het artikel en de Nationale Diamantkluis, die in Nederland niet bestaat.
De steen was een stuk glas dat ik vond tijdens het renoveren van mijn tuin. Ik gebruik het al een aantal jaren als rekwisiet in mijn productfotografie. En ja, ik heb het ooit getest om te zien of het een echte diamant was!
